EU funding for cultural heritage and tourism: €5.85 million for the cohesion region Vzhodna Slovenija
SLOVENIA, December 5 - The approved EU funding will be used to revive cultural heritage and its integration into the tourist offer, as well as to promote digitalisation in the cohesion region Vzhodna Slovenija. The intermediate body, which will award the funding available under the call for proposals, is the Ministry of Economy, Tourism, and Sport. The call for proposals is expected to be published by the end of the year.
The main objective of the call for proposals is to raise the profile and quality of tourist destinations in the cohesion region Vzhodna Slovenija and to enrich cultural heritage with tourist content, which will accelerate the development of tourism in this less developed region. The call for proposals has five key objectives: preserving cultural heritage, developing cultural and tourism products, increasing the economic impact of tourism, digitising cultural heritage, and promoting environmental sustainability. The call for proposals will co-finance investments in the development of tourism products, the digitisation of cultural heritage, and smaller-scale investments.
The call for proposals is implemented under Priority 8: Sustainable Tourism and Culture. It contributes to the specific objective Enhancing the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation (ERDF). The total amount of public funds allocated for the implementation of the call is €6,890,000. European Union support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) amounts to €5,856,500.
